Elaborate custom bowling style club shirt in can't-miss-it color combo of sunshine yellow and royal blue also features an unusual heavily embroidered tiger in blue (yes, blue) and the legend "Original Blue Tigers" on the back, with the name "Escott" embroidered above the front pocket.
Spread collar with button front closure (all present & working), vented sides & back for ease of movement, in a really nice luxe cotton-rayon blend broadcloth with subtle slubs (obviously a no-expense-spared special club shirt).
The vintage fabric is "Springsong by Springmaid," advertised when new: "Avril rayon gives an exciting new look to this luxurious wrinkle resistant Broadcloth, a new lustrous clarity of color and cool, comfortable wearing qualities."
Who or what were the "Original Blue Tigers?" The blue tiger is/was real, a rare genetic mutation in the breed that gave a bluish cast to the fur, elusive & rarely seen, an animal that has taken on mythical status. American military squadrons, Indian soccer teams, and even a classic car club ~ the Sunbeam Tiger, a small British sports car powered by a Ford V8, have honored the name.
In any event, it's a really special rare vintage shirt for a one- of-a-kind man & would make a great gift (for a guy who's not afraid of color!)
Suggested Modern Size: Large Shoulder to shoulder: 19" Chest: 48" Sleeves: 9" Length: 29"
Condition: True vintage rated "Excellent" to "Very Good." Fabric overall is in excellent condition, sturdy, with no holes or odors, but has some very minor flaws to 2 button holes around stains (looks like an ink pen got away from the original owner & was chased down the front; minor spots (dye bleeds, probably) in back, none of which are glaringly noticeable.
