Henry Bogoff was a premier maker of very high-quality costume jewelry on a par with few others (like Boucher & early Trifari). Limited production (1946-1960's) means his work is sought after by collectors, and this set is particularly gorgeous. We believe it dates from the 1940's-early '50's, when designers of jewelry as well as clothing were inspired by natural world of gardens with floral and leaf motifs everywhere.
Bogoff did it best. Over-the-top in imaginative design and quality execution, but classically elegant with fantastically intricate construction, this set is a fab find and proof positive of your immaculate vintage taste.
First-rate materials used unstintingly make this spectacular married set (meaning we collected the pieces individually but are obviously from the same manufacturer & design series, intended to go together) definitely worth adding to your high-end vintage costume jewelry collection.
Rare brooch is aqua blue faceted glass with opulent densely packed high quality vintage "diamond" crystals in a flawless rhodium setting with all stones present & sparkling. Signed Bogoff on back. The earrings are an obvious match from the design same manufacturing run circa 1950's-1960's.
Details: All pieces are true vintage. As the set was assembled from different sources, each piece is detailed here separately. The brooch is in near mint-excellent condition, signed Bogoff on back, almost 2" tall & over 1-5/8" wide, has a secure roll-over clasp and is a substantial piece weighing 22 grams. Earrings are also in excellent condition, clip-ons with the distinctive elegant Bogoff signature in floral stamped repousse, 1" long, comprised of marquise-cut and chaton crystals, prong set.
